"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

Are you going to vote on Tuesday?

Amanda Jones already voted. Amanda Jones is the 109 yr old daughter of a slave. Mrs. Jones has been voting since the day it became legal for her to vote.

She voted when she had to pay *poll taxes. How many of you would pay for the right and privilege and honor of voting?

She voted during the many years where people with her skin color wouldn't have been allowed to share a lunch counter or a water fountain with people who have my skin color. How many of you would have cared so passionately about a country who seemed to care so little about you?

She voted this year when she was too weak to travel to the polls. She cared so much that she had 2 of her children help her fill out a mail in ballot. How many of you have missed a vote because you were too sick or too busy to go?

Its people like Amanda Jones who have made this country great. She cares and she exercises the RIGHT and the PRIVILEGE of voting. I have voted in every national election since I was old enough to vote. I am ashamed to admit there are a few local elections I have missed voting in. I'm going to do my best to never miss another election. I want to be like Amanda Jones when I grow up.

I don't care who you vote for...I just want you all to get off your butts and VOTE!

*Poll taxes were meant to keep black and poor people from voting.

Awesome blog entry!

I didn't vote in my own country's election and you've very thoroughly slapped my hand! Good for you.

I believe that my generation of women was the first to come of age with most of us believing that the world would be fair to us.

This isn't always true but I am strengthened by the inspiration of countless suffragettes.

Can you even imagine being a woman and NOT being able to vote?

Thanks to the suffragettes, America has women voters and wide range of women candidates, and we are a better country for it! Women have voices and choices! Just like men.

But few people know ALL of the suffering that our suffragettes had to go through, and what life was REALLY like for women.

Now you can subscribe FREE to my exciting e-mail series that goes behind the scenes in the lives of eight of the world's most famous women to reveal the shocking and sometimes heartbreaking truth of HOW women won the vote.

Thrilling, dramatic, sequential short story e-mail episodes have readers from all over the world raving about the original historical series, "The Privilege of Voting."

Read this FREE e-mail series on your coffeebreaks and fall in love with these amazing women!

You bet we are going to go and vote.

Sometimes, I wonder though who exactly is in charge of counting these votes and if they are truly being counted in the correct way.

Makes you wonder is it really worth it?

Do others really read those booklets and read both the pros and cons before voting?

Sometimes the signs that you see along the roads and in the yards can be misleading. Such as a no vote means yes or a yes vote can mean no. Confusing isn't it?

Just like ads the Media plays for one candidate more than the other. What happened to the other candidates? I thought there were more than two parties.

These are questions that come to my mind whenever it is time to vote.

Well, I'm not American, but I just want to say to all the American people, DON'T WASTE YOUR VOTE !!!
the people who don't vote, complain the loudest when the new government is in...
same here in Holland.

I voted! I even turned it into a learning discussion with my 11 year old. We even disagreed on a few things, it was AWESOME! Hope you survived Halloween with the boys!
Hugs,
