"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

Happy New Year

This year has been so different than I hoped or expected but it has been so wonderful nonetheless. I had hoped to have a baby this year. While that dream was put on hold, we received the blessing of stabilizing my husband's diabetes. My hopes for Marty having a wonderful middle school experience were dashed completely but that enabled me to develop a closer relationship with him as he blossomed during homeschooling. Being removed from the stress and frustration of middle school has allowed him to relax and enjoy life as he develops into a wonderful young man. You know you have something special when a (near) teen actually comes up to you and apologizes for his behavior after a mini-meltdown. Joey seems to be thriving in his school and with his teacher this year and Gabe, thank God, is finally potty trained. All of my kids have developed such wonderful senses of humor and most of the time I genuinely enjoy spending time with them.

I have made friendships this year both online and in person that are thriving and flourishing. These friendships have provided me with so much pleasure and enjoyment. I could go on and on but what I really want to do is raise my glass in toast to all of you tonight and say...

May the new year bring
The warmth of home and hearth to you.
The cheer and goodwill of friends to you,
The hope of a childlike heart to you.
The joy of a thousand angels to you,
The love of the Son and God's peace to you.

Happy new year :) May 2010 bring you your desires.

I finally put up my book list for 2009. A hefty list, but I did not make my goal. But, I'm sure I'll surpass it next year ;)

Nice to be reading your recap of the fruits you reaped in 2009.

Am so happy that the kids are doing great, and that your DH's diabetes is reined in.

Here's to 2010!

Middle school is where tomorrow's sociopaths receive their initial conditioning. It's good you removed him from there.
