"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

So, whatcha doing this summer?

Here we are facing the end of school and the beginning of summer. Are you doing anything special this weekend for Memorial day? Have you planned any vacations for this summer? What are y'all planning for this summer?

This weekend we are planning on going to the pool tomorrow and Monday and we're probably going to grill on Monday. I'm sure we're going to be spending a bunch of time at the pool this summer. We've already been once but OMG was the water cold.

I just got my kids signed up for all their summer camps. The Town of Cary has a most incredible recreation and parks department and they offer scholarship help if you need it. Joey is going to a week of BMX bike camp and a week of basketball camp. Marty is going to a history camp, the Civil War Experience, and (if it isn't full) a cooking camp.

Marty also has a week long confirmation camp through our church and both the older boys have been invited to my sister Keri's house this summer. Keri and her family live less than 4 miles from Carowinds so I'm sure they'll end up going once while they are visiting.

Most importantly, I'm going to BlogHer in August.

So, spill it. What are your plans this summer?

Sounds like you all will be having a fun summer. I don't have much of anything planned. Can't afford it. Oh well. I can still find stuff to do at home.

We are keeping it local for the most part. Doing a few "out of town" day trips, pool and the girls are going on trips for school/volleyball as well as pre-season training. Also will host some of the cousins for a couple weeks *gulp*

Well i plan on being very hot and pregnant in Cairo this summer, woo hoo man! No travelling outside the country I think, but maybe some travel to the Red Sea and/or the Mediterranean maybe? Definitely hitting the pool at the club where we live and eating tons of fresh fruit and salads, my favorite summertime food. If I were closer I would invite myself to your BBQ, i love me some good BBQ and I bet you are awesome at it!

Fletcher and I are going to be spending lots of time at my dad's pool, and playing in the dirt planting stuff.

Wow... you guys are going to be busy! But it sounds like a lot of fun. It's hard to think about summer right now as it's snowing... yeah that's right, snowing. Argh!

If we actually get warm weather again, here's the plans... get the nursery in shape (sort, purge, organize, paint, etc) and refinish a couple pieces of furniture. Then we are off to K-town for a week to visit my parental units. Other than that it's just work, doctor appointments, and trying to stay cool.

You have to promise us pictures of BlogHer, please please please!!!

I do not have anything planned...at least not in the fun department. I am pestering DH to take me to a nearby hill station after I have submitted my thesis, but it is still not a concrete plan.

A lot of tiny trips--mostly to beaches--and a lot of geocaching. We'll go to the pool daily.

And then meeting you at BlogHer :-)

Weekend swimming at the community pool, foodie trip to Chicago and cycle in August, trip to S Carolina in September (we might be passing through- want to do lunch?), lots of use out of our family zoo pass, plus starting up teaching my cloth diapering and couponing classes.

Wow, it sounds like you guys are going to have an awesome summer! I am totally jealous about BlogHer. I so wish I could go, too!

We don't have much planned this summer. We have the IVF cycle in late June/early July. I do plan on doing lots of zoo trips because I got us a family membership this year. I am going to San Diego for a week for a work conference in early August. (without husband and kids!) That's about it. I like to enjoy being home with the boys during the summer. That is a great vacation for me!

I'm going to a retreat at the end of the month. And school started up again this week. LOL, I think I'm done with home improvements where I have to PAY people. At least for this year.
