"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

SHOW AND TELL: Scout Night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park

Last night, Joey and I went to Scout Night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

The game was fun.

The snacks were delish but pricey.

The Bulls kicked the Mudhens' asses.

The fireworks were fabulous.

The boys had the chance to buy tickets to sleep in the outfield. The boys played and got autographs from Wool E. Bull, the Durham Bulls Mascot.

Yes, we were part of the contingent who slept over. And, the ground was very, very hard. I ended up pinned in one position by Joey last night and that combined with the hard ground of the infield made me seriously hurt when I woke up this morning. I was pinned in one position because Joey and I were sleeping under the stars and he managed to kick off his sleeping bag. I am definitely not 20 yrs old anymore...ugh. But, you know what, I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, I will probably do it again next year.

To see what everyone else in class is bringing to SHOW AND TELL, take a trip to visit the Miss Mel, Goddess of the Infertility Blogosphere.

And, one little fun extra. I have a really cool project going on that involves this...

It is going to be an incredible surprise and if you want in on it, EMAIL ME!

The Jewy side of me just perked up with the secret project. I love that you slept out on the field. It sounds like fun in story form--not so much fun in actuality. But you do what you have to do for the good story/memories.

Sleeping on the ground... I think I left that behind sometime around my junior year of college. You are a far better woman than me! :)

Looks like you guys had fun. I love fireworks - haven't seen that live in a while.

Sleeping in the outfield, sounds pretty cool for an experience even if it did cost you a great deal of stiffness in the morning.

My favourite trick. A self-inflating air matress my Dad got from being in the milatry. Best darn things ever.

Very cool photos!

Piers Anthony used to be one of my favorites as well. I still love some of his books, but he got a little weird as he got older, and I lost some interest. However, he did write me back TWICE when I entered a contest they had and sent me a book plate... very nice.

That overnight sounds so flipping fun! I love overnights at cool places (Although I find bringing an inflatable air mattress invaluble!)

Looks like a great time!

Well, that's probably about as close to camping as I would be willing to get...maybe. You're an awesome mom!

You are the definition of 'good mom' - 'One who will do anything and everything for their children regardless of desire and/or motivation towards the event itself.'

You rock girl!

Awesome! I really want to go to a game. My sister lives in Raleigh and I'm hoping one day we'll be able to see the Bulls in action!

I got a souvenir cup at a Bulls game more than 10 years ago. The cat has been drinking out of it lately, and just yesterday I took it out of the dishwasher and it was cracked. Apparently soda souvenirs aren't meant to last more than a decade.

I still have fond memories of the game, though. The dishwasher can't crack those.

Looks like you and Joey had a great time, as great a time as can be had sleeping on the hard ground. :) I love that you're willing to do it again next year.
