"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

SHOW AND TELL: Good News All Around

Welcome to our weekly expedition into the land of Show and Tell. Y'all know Show and Tell is wasted on the elementary schoolers. Join us weekly to show off an item, tell a story, and get the attention of the class. In other words, this is Show and Tell 2.0. (Mine is mostly tell with only a teensy bit of show involved)

There have been a number of things that have made me smile or even cheer today.
********************
Do you remember when I told y'all about Anissa and the terrible stroke she had? Well, today, I read the best update on her so far. She can sense hot and cold on her affected side and she is starting to regain movement on the affected side. She is also feeling good enough that she was able to send out a Tweet. I am so happy to hear of her improvements. It just makes me smile.
********************
I truly believe that what goes around comes around. I also acknowledge that, sadly, we aren't always there to see people get their karmic retribution. Well, today, Kristin (I like that name, wonder why?) over at Once A Mother finally had something give her a little hope and a reason to smile a bit after having a lot of crap rain down on her recently. The bonus was getting to view an asshat have his date with karmic justice. I really had to cheer when I read about her final phone call with Officer B. Go read about it. You'll cheer too.

Finally, the lovely Melissa over at Our Full Circle passed on the Happy 101 award to me...

I am fairly new to Melissa's blog but I never fail to enjoy my time over there. She tells an amazing story and always seems to not only persevere but to live life to its fullest despite setbacks in her quest for parenthood. Thanks for the award sweetie. Go check out Melissa's blog (just make sure you come back here when you are done) .

All I have to do for this award is list 10 things that make me happy and pass this award on to 10 bloggers who make me happy.

Today started off as a very blue day for me - so finding your Show and Tell has helped make me happy. Your friend Anissa's news made me happy today and I am happy that it makes you happy. The other Kristin's tale also made me smile (and cry) - the sense of justice being served and right prevailing was almost exhilirating!

Congrats on a lovely award to receive, and thank you for sharing it so we can enjoy it too. I do mean that - your S&T today was just what I needed. :0)

I was so honored to see I made your show and tell :) and so incredibly happy to hear about Anissa. I have been following her story, and this is such great news. I pray that she continues to recover and find herself doing more and more of the things that make her happy.
Thanks also for introducing me to Melissa's blog. It's always great to find new reads.
Congrats on your award!

PS I sent your email to the guy writing the story. His name is Joel, just in case you hear from him.

When I saw this in my Reader, I was gonna come over and say how glad I am that you and Melissa found each other because you both rock immensely.

Seeing my name on your list made me squee out loud!

Mmmmm...chocolate and raspberries.

Found your blog via show and tell. I like the things that make you happy! I can relate to many of them. What made me happy today was actually the flip side of something sad... seeing someone young and very ill at work made me thankful and happy that my mom who is going through her own illness has made it this far. I was happy to have gotten to spend 34 years of my life with her.

You! You mentioned me! I'm all smiley now! Which, considering I slept all of 2 minutes, that's huge. Thank you! YAY!

"The pure uninhibited laughter of a young child"

-If only we could put that in a bottle its some powerful anti depressant.

Happy to hear the news of Anissa.

It is kind of nice when you see Karma bite someone in the ass when the so deserve it.
Good to hear that Anissa is doing so well.
Lets see, happy today? I sold 2 more blankets. And I had the best time laughing with a couple people at work. The guy in our department (the one and only) was talking about being surrounded by estrogen (he has 2 little girls) and his flirting. It was so funny I couldn't quit laughing.
