"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

Calling all book challenge participants...

I know many of us had, ummm, errr, interesting years last year and that affected our reading totals. Therefore, I am going to offer 2 prizes for the people who participated in my book challenge. There will be a hand-made quilted library tote bag for the winner in the "I reached my goal" category. And, there will be a surprise prize for a winner selected in the "I tried my best" category. Please, please check in and let me know what your totals are.

I will be running a Book Challenge again in 2010 and sign ups will start sometime next week.

Smooches my beautiful friends. I hope this is a wonderful start to a fabulous year for all of us.

*I will do the drawing for the prizes on the 8th for anyone who needs to get their numbers together.

I tried my hardest! I read 21/25 books! That is quite good for me as I only normally read a couple a year! I am sad that I didn't quite reach my target though.

I too came in short on my reading this year. I did great until the last 3 months and then when I changed jobs (and no longer had time to read at work)I slowed down. Then got stuck on a non-fiction book I committed to reading and basically just busy. I read 63 books and my goal was for 70. Even though I'm disappointed I have to say, 63 books isn't bad.

I actually beat my 1st goal of 50 books and my 2nd goal of 70 books, didn't make the 3rd goal of 100 and ended 2009 with 95 books read. You can check out all my titles on my blog side bar.

Thanks for checking up on us and for having prizes, so sweet of you :)

Gah! Only 53 out of a goal of 100. I used to read more than ten books a month! Oh well... I MUST turn off the tv more often.

I tried my damnedst, started out great, but then got laid off, etc..(which you think would actually help in getting more reading time--I guess I proved that theory wrong). All this to say my goal was 100; got 56 done.

I also tried my best! I was amazed that I wasn't able to finish, but I think that I knew when I wasn't even at 20 in July that I was hurting.... my goal for next year is still going to be 50 but this year I got 26 out of 50 read.

[sigh!]

BTW ~ I just saw on someone else's blog that there's a website out there devoted to allowing people to compare their reading lists and write reviews.... it looks good. I just joined so we'll see. My user name is ParkGirl if anyone wants to friend me because I always love hearing about what people are reading!)

Anyway.... the website is www.Goodreads.com - check it out!

Yep..would love to join in...just let me know what to do. I am unfortunately a very fast reader: I read the last Harry Potter in three and a half hours: So, I guess I had better aim high lol

Thanks for the reminder! I read 25.5 books in 2009 (I'm halfway done with my last book), and listened to another 6 books on CD, which I do while driving.

So while I didn't meet my goal of 30 books actually read (as defined by the rules of the game), I did complete 31 books in total.

The last book I'm reading right now is book one of a series of three, so I can't wait to get through them. They are by Beverly Lewis, and are about the Amish. Love her books!

Thanks again for holding this challenge! It really helped me to read more, which I love!!

I forgot to add, if it weren't for my recent obsession with Facebook, I would have surpassed my goal!

I have to go back and go through my blog to see how many I read. I am very bad with keeping details. haha. How long do we have to get the info up?

I also tried my best but fell short of my goal...I read 60 out of 70. Still pretty good, I think. =)

I think I'm going to have to participate this year...

Hi...I only read 70/75. However, I'm really happy with myself because the majority of books I read were 350+ pages, so though I didn't meet my book quota I did a TON of reading! I've been keeping an on going list of my totals on the left sidebar of my blog if anyone wants to check it out. I'll leave my 2009 list up until you post for us to sign up for 2010. :)

Checked and never posted my goal. Was trying to figure it out since I refuse to count school books for the challenge.

Looked at my good reads account and actually finished 10 non school books in 2009.

At least I know where to start in setting my goals for 2010.

I surpassed my goal of 35 books this year and finished 38. Thanks for hosting this challenge!

I read a whopping total of 34. I would have had much better numbers if I'd finished everything I started. I can't remember what I had posted as my goal.

I read 18. Nowhere near my goal of 36. But I'm gonna to try again again in 2010.
