"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

My friend's mom...

My best girlfriend's mom has shocked everyone. Her pulmonologist honestly didn't think she would ever make it off of the ICU but she has. Her mom decided they weren't moving fast enough to remove her intubation tube and she removed ot herself. Any of you with a medical background know just how damned hard it is to extubate yourself but Faye managed. Her long term prognosis still isn't good but her demise is no longer imminent. She is going to a rehab facility for a week (LOL...her daughter had to bully her into doing it) and then she is going to be able to go home. Faye will have to be on supplimentary oxygen but, with that help, she is able to breathe on her own. No one really knows how long my friend Kristi will have her mom, Faye, around but they've gotten a reprive for now.

Thank you everyone for the prayers. I have no doubt they helped.

Will continue to keep her in my prayers. Glad that she is recovering and doing even better than the doctors anticipated.

Sometimes those self-extubations end up working well. I;m glad it worked for your friend.
