"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

The Knees Have It

In between our bouts of sniffing and sneezing and coughing and hacking, Rys and I have been kicking butt in the house cleaning department. One of the rooms we tackled was the den/playroom. There were a lot of toys that weren't being played with anymore and a bunch or broken ones mixed in too. We still have a bunch to do in the den but we have already donated 3 garbage bags of toys and threw away one other bag. I ran across a few things that brought back memories and made me wonder all at the same time.

See, back in August of 2001, Vic blew his left knee out. It was destroyed and required multiple surgeries to even make it functional. These multiple surgeries left a scar about 8 inches long on Vic's knee. Around this same time, Marty discovered Power Rangers and all the figurines and toys that went with them. Marty went through a stage where his Power Rangers were turning into casualties of war and the funny thing is that they all had the same injury.
See, you have 3 Power Rangers missing their left legs and on spare left leg missing a Power Ranger. Do you sense a theme here? Vic destroys his left knee and, shortly thereafter, Marty starts destroying the left legs of Power Rangers. All in all, it makes me seriously wonder about my oldest son's sanity and outlook on life.

Have you ever had things/toys get broken or destroyed in a weird manner?

Well, as a child people kept buying me Barbies (you know, since I was a girl I *must* have been into Barbies... yeah, never got that remote control car I wanted or that chemistry set... *cough*) ANYWAY, I didn't approve. I thought Barbie was stupid, and unrealistic, and just... no. I used to make the Barbies more interesting, and would cut their hair weird, color it all the colors of the rainbow, gave them tattoos/piercings, and in the end I'd play with them after they were "altered".

However, sometimes I ought right decapitated them.
Hahaha! Oh man, that's too funny. We've had many "war wounded" toys just like that!

I recently gave away Intrepid's Rescue Heroes. The old school ones with all the bells and whistles. They've gone to a boy who will play with them as much as all three of my boys played with them. It still almost had me in tears, though. *sniff* I felt like a hoarder - a toy hoarder!

Funny about the legs on the power rangers. I remembergoing through a phase when I was maybe 4 where I loved breaking crayons. Like entire box fills of them.
My Barbie heads would always pop off.
Very little destruction here since we have the girls and William is quite calm to be a boy! Now Dwayne on the other hand........
I think that Marty was putting himself through play therapy with his power rangers...I see this as his way of coping.

Now taking my social worker hat off to tell you I think this is really just funny. ;)
