"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " -Helen Keller

Hey Book Challenge Ladies...

How is everyone doing on the Book Challenge? I just hit 80 books (10 above my estimate) for the year. Admittedly, quite a few of the books I've read have been pure fluff but that is still a lot.

Have you discovered any new authors? Have there been any books you have particularly loved? Let me know how y'all are doing since I'm starting to plot and plan regarding the prize.

Aww, man. Look at you go!

I will have to update my list and post it sometime soon ;) Maybe tonight, maybe in a couple days... we shall see!

all the books I've read (and re-read) are mainly the teen books that I want to read before the kids read them. I'm officially in love with vampires *sigh* not just Edward or Jasper either. Dimitri is just as good lol

I'm about 2/3 of the way through my goal. I guess I better kick it in to high gear so I can finish! I've kept my list on the side of my blog if you want to check out what I've read so far.

I'm about 2/3 through my goal. Work has been so busy, been doing 80 hours weeks so not had time to read which is a shame. I have my next lap in a few weeks though so should reach my goal by Christmas!

I've surpassed my goal of 50, then 60 and now I'm over 70 :)

I've become obsessed with all things supernatural. I love the sookie books, the anita blake series and the mercy thompson series.

I have a list on my blog.

Thanks for checking up on us.

Still hanging in there but I've slowed down. Since I changed jobs I no longer have time at work to read (I used to have lots of time at work to read) and haven't finished any books lately. I feel like I'm going through withdrawls. I still have I think 11 to go to make my goal.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten as far as I would have liked. In the past, I used to read a lot more than I do now (which is incredibly sad for someone who sells books). I had predicted that I would read 100 books, and while I can't recall al the books I read in January, I think I'm going to miss it by about 25. We'll see what I can accomplish in the next couple of months. I will post a omplete list for the year on my next reading list post (end of the month).

I'm not going to make it - unless I get on a huge roll. I might have more time to read during basketball season when Jim's working late. We'll see. Life (you know what I'm talking about) got in the way this year. My modified goal is to make it to 35 this year - granted, I'd be over the moon with 50. I've also got to quit reading super long books and stick with more average length stories! =)

I just wrote a blog post about it if you're interested! =)

I'm at 55 of 75. I think I'll make my goal...traditionally I read a TON during Thanksgiving and winter breaks. Is Dec. 31st the "deadline?"

I loved "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. I'd never heard of the book, nor the author. Then the book was chosen as an 8th grade summer reading book for my students, so I read it too. VERY good read!

I also discovered author Libba Bray this year. I enjoyed the "Gemma Doyle" trilogy she wrote. :)
