Some Gave All

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. For many people, this means a day of picnics, water play, and relaxation. It should mean more. Over the relatively short history of our country, many brave men and women have chosen to join our military to defend our freedom. Each and every one of those people gave of themselves, their blood, their sweat, their tears. Some gave more. Some lost their lives fighting for our country. Some gave all. Today is the day to remember each and every fallen hero.

Now, I can hear some of my friends and even a few family members saying "But we don't support this war. We think this war is wrong." Well, Memorial Day isn't about just this war. Memorial Day is there to honor all the lives laid down for this country all the way back to the war that let us become the USA. And, while you may not support the current war, you can still support our soldiers. The men and women who have lost their lives are not the ones who picked this war. They chose military service which supports our country even in times of peace and, for that, we owe them our respect.

Today is a day to remember our fallen warriors for without them there would be no Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.
