I still don't get it...

and I think this guy's observation about Twilight sums it up for me...
PS...I read the first book, enjoyed it while I was reading it, and then made the fatal mistake of stopping to think about what I read. My response when I thought about it was... WTF did I just read and why oh why did I read it. Literary crack.

If you haven't read the books, you won't get it. Plain and simple. The movies don't do it justice, and really they can't, because so much of the books is what is going on in Bella's head, and that's impossible to show on screen.

The thing that got me is that Meyer completely captures what it feels like when you fall in love for the first time. That high school obsessive "can't live without the other person" feeling, and the feeling that it will last forever. The first time I read it, I could not put it down.

Knowing what I know about you, I think you'd really enjoy them. If you've read them already, and still don't like them, then just shut me up! LOL!

LOL

I've read too many feminist critiques of the books (and critiques of the quality of the writing) to summon the desire to read them. But I appreciate the fervor with which so many of my friends love them.

And, there's the fear that once I started reading I wouldn't be able to stop, which is the other thing I hear about them (can't count the number of people who have compared those books to crack).

Hilarious!

I will confess that I enjoyed the books, but they are not on my reread list any time soon.

I haven't seen any of the movies, but even just the trailers are enough to convince me that I don't want to see them.

The books were ...OK. I read them, enjoyed one or two more than the others, but the movies are only tolerable. It's a teenage girl thing.

The Twilight Series won't win a Nobel for Literature in a 1000 years, but yes...the movies had me done in! Plus, I like the background score of Twilight.

I don't get it either. Although I've never read the books. I'm not really interested in reading the books either. So the movies are definitely out.
