Hopes, Dreams, and Wishes...

Not too long ago, I received the most wonderful surprise birthday present. Dora over at ISO the Golden Egg pre-ordered Mel's book, Navigating the Land of IF, for me as part of her Pay It Forward Friday.

You may be wondering why I'm babbling on about this again. Aside from the fact that I wanted to tell Dora thank you again, there is another very important reason I'm mentioning it. When I logged on this morning, the first blog I stopped by was Weebles Wobblog. Lori has a lovely post up today talking about the incomparable Melissa aka Lollipop Goldstein, a lady I fondly refer to as the Goddess of the Infertility Blogosphere.

While reading Lori's post about Mel, I found out that a relative of hers works for a major publisher. This relative has set forth a challenge to Mel. The challenge is to pre-sell 2000 copies of her book, Navigating the Land of IF, through her much smaller publisher.

Even if you are new to the ALI community (Adoption, neonatal Loss, Infertility), you are probably aware of who Mel is. However, you may not be aware of all she does for our community. (quoting directly from Lori) "Melissa has organized fundraisers for others' IVF treatments through U.T.E.R.U.S. She has helped countless people make countless connections as they pursue their dreams and desires. She has comforted, advised, compiled, poured, listened, and cheered. She has made our voices heard in the non-IF world.

And so much more. She's a cross between Yoda and the Energizer Bunny, and anyone who has frequented her blog is so much richer for it.

Now it is our turn to make her wish come true. Let's take up the publisher's challenge and pre-sell a gazillion of copies of Navigating The Land of IF: Understanding Infertility and Exploring Your Options."

Here are the things you can do to help Mel's wish come true...

1. Order your own copy here. If you've read Mel's blog, you know she's a fabulous writer. I am absolutely certain the book will be equally wonderful. And, you save $5 by pre-ordering!
2. Glance over at the top of my sidebar. See that nifty button promoting Mel's book...well, add it to your blog. Either email me or email Lori and you can get the code.
   
3. Consider Mel's book as a gift for anyone else you know who is facing infertility and is looking for a way through.
4. Write a post periodically over the next few months to remind your readers about the availability of Mel's book. If you do write a post, go to Lori's Blog, Weebles Wobblog, to leave your link (through Mr Linky) so that Mel will have a listing of all her well-wishers.
